Jak Housden, Guitar

Jak’s infatuation with the guitar began when he witnessed The Police play live as a kid. By his mid-teens he was playing regularly around Melbourne and would soon help to form The Badloves. As a member of The Badloves, Jak developed his signature Bluesy/Psychedellic sound, turned heads and won hearts. In 2001 he was snapped up by The Whitlams and has been a significant member ever since. In 2004, Jak released his debut solo album, which featured an array of diverse styles from 60’s garage  to disco pastiche.

In recent years Jak has demonstrated his astounding versatility by establishing himself as a highly sought after freelance guitarist. He has performed and recorded with a variety of artists, including Jimmy Barnes, Barry Gibb and Olivia Newton John, Abby Dobson, Kate Ceberano, Wendy Matthews, Daryl Braithwaite, Christine Anu, Nessa Morgan, Foxx on Fire, Shannon Noll, Guy Sebastian, Natalie Bassingthwaighte, Luke Dickens and Damien Leith.

Over the last few years Jak has also played with Clayton Doley’s organ Donors. He appears both as Guitarist and Mix Engineer  on their debut album Tention!

He is currently spending nights couped up in the studio cooking up some new Psych/Folk/Pop music of his own. Keep an eye and an ear out for some of this in early ’12.
